Years ago a friend had an Elva Courier  ( MGB engine/trans ) with stuck clutch.
We tried many of the previously mentiioned tricks.

Before pulling the tranny, I loosened the bell housing bolts/studs, gently 
prying
it away from the block, but keeping it on the alignment pins.  Trying to rotate
rear wheels (with leverage) back and forth was enough to free the clutch.
