I'll take a look at the numbers probably this weekend. The consensus is
that I can swap out the mechanisms to use the correct backing. What puzzles
me is why the light openings aren't there. Thinking about it now, I can't
imagine why a tachometer would not have the light openings. The tachometer
looks original, otherwise it is a very good reproduction.

  Hi
I bought a speedo and tach for my early TR4 (same as TR3) at a swap meet a
few weeks ago. I just checked the tach and it has the holes for the
lights.
There's a serial in tiny letters near the center of the dial. Check to see
what the numbers are on your original tach. I bought both the speedo and
tach because I was missing one and couldn't remember which. I only need
the
speedo, so if you want the tach, I'll sell it to you for what I paid for
it...$60.00 (plus shipping). They are not that common. Its in good shape,
but not perfect. Check your old tach for the numbers, and then I'll check
to
make sure this one works by putting on a cable and running it with a
drill.
Let me know if you want it.
