Sounds likely to be a similar ploy. It is interesting that only the TRs
seem to be involved. The MGs and Jags either sold a lot better (ie.
during the current year), or their dealerships/distributors didn't
bother with this kind of detail. Affixing the 'STC-6x' plates (as in the
US) makes more sense to me than just putting a nearly un-noticeable
stamped digit on the existing chassis # plate!!
The question still remains: Who did the stamping?? Another question
comes out of this: Was it only done in Ontario, or did the other
provinces do something similar?? Are we gluttons for trivia or what, eh.
