About 18 months ago I first heard about Honda's new roadster, being a
Honda fan with two Accords and a Prelude, I called my friendly salesman
and asked for information. He had heard nothing from Honda about them.
About a year ago I called him back after seeing the new Road and Track
that had the S2000 on the cover, he knew little and said that Honda was
unsure if it would be an Acura or a Honda, I told him I was still
interested. I got back with him every two months or so till this summer
when he said that I was one top of the list, he called in September to
say that three had come in. One silver with red interior, it was lust at
first sight. List price was 32,000 with dealer add-ons it came to
$37,000. Actually, my 85 year old father bought it and I will buy it
from him when the divorce is final, it's basically parked till then.
It's a really nice car. As I said before, I like to think that if
Triumph built cars today, it would be the S2000. I think I'll go over
to Dad's tonight and pour some oil on the garage floor just to make it
more realistic. I have been envious of Art Kelley and others who are the
original owners of their classics so this is mine. I plan to keep this
baby forever! I kept the temporary tag, I kept everything. The car
cover fits like a glove, it's just really as good as the reports say.
But it doesn't have a clock, I don't know if time is supposed to stand
still while you're driving or what, but a clock would be nice. Yes, I do
have a watch, but a clock would be nice. Really no complaints, I did a
road trip to Atlanta and another to Miami in "her" and at 85 mph or so
it's like 70 in anything else. The trunk is adequate and milage in the
mid to upper twenties. Did i mention heads turning, but I'm used to
that in the Triumphs. The acceleration and exhaust note above 6000
RPM's is really good and it does red line at 9000 rpm. The 2 liter
engine is rated at 240 hp which is remarkable. Any other questions?
I know this isn't Triumph stuff but it is in my dreams. Any way to get
a Triumph emblem on the front? Maybe I'll get another list decal for my
windshield.
