Tom,
I am having a similar problem with my TR6 that comes and goes. It seems
to be worse when the weather is hot and humid, which has been pretty
much all summer here. While in Portland ME the car ran much better. My
theory is that the carb damper oil could be changing viscosity and thus
altering the carbs dynamic response to the throttle opening. Either
that, or worn throttle shaft bushings causing an erratic air leak. A
worn distributor might also cause problems, but I would think more
consistently than I have experienced.
