Car sputters

To the great Wisdom:

Cna soemone tell me why 
or what to look for with
a 72 TR 6, sputtering when
starting out or attempts to 
die before it gets moving?

Can timing cause this????

Plugs, wires, distributor
cap and rotor have been replaced
in the last 2 weeks.

Once the car is going everything seems
to be okay.
