I'm not sure about the TR-4 glove box (mine was long gone when I got the
car), but TR-3 glove (cubby) boxes were indeed made of pressed cardboard,
but the inside was flocked - that's what that fuzzy stuff was that remained
in the back corners and got into anything that you stashed in the glove
box.
