On my TR-6 I have an MSD 6 triggered by a Pertronix Ignitor. The Ignitor is
a magnetic pickup that
replaces the points which I purchased at a great price from fellow lister
Roger Bolick (I think Moss also carries them at
retail cost)- he may still have some.

The setup works quite well. I also added a set of Magnecor 8.5mm ignition
wires.
If you have a PI car make sure you DON'T get spark plug wires for a carb
car. l learned the hard way that they
are too short.

The Crane setup would be cheaper than using both the ignitor and the MSD,
and is probably almost
as good. I inherited the MSD from the previous owner and added the Ignitor
specifically to eliminate the points.
If I were buying from scratch I'd probably either just get the ignitor
(which puts out a 'normal' spark) or go for
the Crane unit.
