If you have a device known as an engine tilter, that allows controlled changes
in the
angle at which you are pulling, you can remove an engine and trans together
without
gutting the interior leaving those pesky radios in place. Simply remove the
entire
mounting plate under the trans and use the tilter to allow the trans to drop
down so
the shifter lever goes below the trans tunnel. (Don't forget to remove the
knob!) The
car will need to be slightly elevated on stands to allow enough of an angle,
and you
will need sufficient height in your lifting hoist or crane to clear the raised
car,
but most commercially available engine cranes should work just fine for this if
set on
their 1/2 ton position on the boom.
