The original waterpump on my 1956 TR3 unpacked itself a
couple of years ago and I replaced it with an aftermarket.
The original had a grease fitting and the others don't.
After going through three more pumps in 3 years due to the
shaft shearing @ the end of the threaded end, I finally
realized that I was putting to much belt tension on the
system.
But to the point. I have one original with the packing
shot, and three "new" pumps with the front end threads
broken. Can these be taken apart to swamp parts, and are
there any tricks? Anyone have that tee shirt?
BTW - If you use a replacement from Moss, MAKE SURE and do a
little grinding of the houseing to clear the pully.
Otherwise you will enjoy a melodic grinding for mile after
mile until you go through the hassel to taking the pump back
off and doing what they told you to do in the first place.
