I think you're right, Chad. I've always taken it out into the cockpit,
then lifted it out from there. My little cradle idea simply supports the
gearbox while you pull the whole thing rearward. Then, when all is clear,
you can climb into the cockpit and lift the whole thing out the top. The
cradle isn't fastened to the jack, but it would rest securely on it, so
theoretically you could lift the two out together.

I'm kind of thinking out loud about this cradle thing... I've made some
drawings and screwed around with it a little bit, but I'm allowing for the
possibility that it'll be more trouble than it's worth. These kind of
things often end up that way!

Regarding the weight of the gearbox... I'm 6' tall and weigh 160 pounds or
so. The most strenuous activity I participate in would be fly fishing.
That's right, not very damned strenuous!! So, my build is far from
muscular. At any rate, I can lift the TR6 gearbox without much trouble.
The trouble I have is getting underneath there and pushing, pulling and
just generally having to maneuver the thing around. Maybe I could do it,
but I decided that since discretion is the better part of valor I'd enlist
some help from a neighbor, and I'd suggest that anyone else do the same
unless you KNOW that you can do it.

Merry Christmas to all!!
