Boy ....is THAT a loaded question Sylvain. It's such a subjective issue that
you won't get a straight answer from anyone.
Let's face it, all LBC's are subject to the vagaries of the British sports car
syndrome and unless you have intimate knowledge of what you're buying, you'll
end up no better off than you were with the TR-6.
I've found that once you get the car to where you want it mechanically, you'll
have relatively trouble free driving.
IMHO, if you stay with the more modern cars, (TR-6 & TR-7) you will find parts
readily available from a number of sources. Used parts are pretty plentiful
and donor cars generally are not complete rust buckets. There are 2 more
cylinders to contend with, however, so consider that in the rebuild.
The further back you go, the harder it is to find that perfect project car and
the donor cars are few and far between........most of them with too much
history and too far gone to be of any use.
Have you considered simply plunking down the cash for something decent? If
you're the least bit handy, you can restore any car you want. The decision
would then be moot. You have an army of helping hands in this forum, so don't
be afraid to use it.
15-love.......your serve.
