The spacer is probably something like bakelite, or a derivative of that.

Good thing my mother doesn't read the Triumphs list... she'd have you
arrested by the American Begonia Society police. <g> As for the fuel
filters, two would be just great (one before the pump, one after). Four
sounds like overkill to me, unless each were progressively finer. From
the description of the remains of the fuel pump, they didn't help much.

Stay away from both Monroes and Gabriels. They're cheap, and available,
I think, but both are made to some rather inexact standards. Spax shocks
are available at a fairly reasonable price through UK sources--they're
somewhat expensive through US sources. Konis are expensive everywhere,
but well-made. The Spax shocks have the small advantage of being more
adjustable than Konis (12 gradations, rather than 3).
