Nikki,
Do you mean you hear the starter motor spinning, without cranking the engine
over? If so, the solenoid must be stuck. (I thought the starter could not
spin unless the solenoid worked, but I could be wrong, or you could have an
unusual fault.)
Try banging the solenoid with a hammer (not _too_ hard). If that doesn't
work, an autoelectrician should be able to fix it quickly and cheaply. (A
rebuilt starter shouldn't cost more than $100, and it must be easy ti
replace on your car.)
