Rick,
I am going to answer your question only if you provide the following
information for my Spitfire Database:
Year (80 you provided) Model (1500, obviously), Color, Commission #
(VIN), Owner (Rick Nagel, of course), Location>
With that said, Haynes manual for Spitfires says."Due to the
exceptionally tight fit of the rear hub on the shaft, removal can
normally be carried out if the correct tool (S4221A) is available, or a
hydraulic press used with suitable supporting adapters. Failing the
availability of these tools, the hub/shaft will have to be taken to a
dealer for removal of the hub."
That is what I have always done. Life is too short to fool around with
frustrations like that to save a few bucks.
