Ok hopefully this puts an end to this thread.

I would like to clarify my position... This list is a tremendous
resource for any triumph owner who maintains his/her own car. I enjoy it
immensely. I felt that the original Employment Opportunity post was not
out of place on the list. I especially felt that the reply to his post
was extremely rude and inconsiderate. Reasons?

First a disclaimer: I have no connection of any sort with the person who
made the original post. I live very far away from his location. I have
never bought anything from him. Blah blah blah...

Now my reasons:

1. He wasn't trying to sell anything. If he had been trying to promote
his shop or sell his parts or services or whatever, I would have been in
agreement with the idea of informing him (in a polite manner!) that we
prefer to not have commercial solicitations on this list.

2. He is (seemingly legitimately) looking for something which is related
to british cars. This list is about triumphs. He _clearly_ stated his
terms. If one doesn't agree with the terms, one is not obliged to answer
his request. Dissing the guy in a rude way is pretty inconsiderate IMO.
Let's say someone posted a message saying they had
_insert-car-part-or-service-you-want-badly_ for a ridiculously low
price. Would they also be subject to a rude flame job?

3. He gave his web address which if you read it, indicates he is somwhat
dedicated to british cars. Perhaps in the same way one might post their
car for sale on the list in the hopes it goes to a new owner who will
take "proper" care of it rather than trashing it, he is looking for
someone to take over his business. Is he really like his web page makes
him out to be? I don't know. Appearances can be deceiving but let's give
the guy a chance.

BTW, I have no idea how inappropriate his terms may be and frankly I
don't care since I am not looking for a career switch. The quality of
his terms is for those who have an interest in the offer to consider and
do something about.

My $.03

It's post and reply's like thease that weed out the net once in
awhile, kinda
like a germ spreading around. After awhile both it and the
people who catch
        it seem to dissappear.

Sometimes a few good people bite the bullet on this type of
mail!!
