Several weeks ago, I went to back the GT6 out of the
garage and discovered that the brake master cylinder
had failed during the month or so that it had been
parked and emptied itself onto the floor mat, taking
the paint off the firewall on the way down. I stripped
the firewall, repainted, and rebuilt both master
cylinders. I have done this before and don't anticipate
any problems bleeding the systems, but I dread installing
the rubber dust excluders that cover the holes in the
firewall. You guessed it, "replacement is the reverse of
removal" according to the manual. Does anybody have any
tricks for installing these that they would like to share?
The last time I did this, I spent a couple of very
frustrating hours in a contorted position under the dash
coaxing them into position with needle nose pliers and a
variety of small screwdrivers and they still leaked
profusely.

BTW, when I went to order a rebuild kit for the brake MC,
VB was backordered, TRF sent a kit for a tandem MC that
would have worked, but I would have thrown away half the
parts in the kit ($42), and Moss said "Ewwwww, we don't
do GT6's. Never have, never will". I took the disassembled
MC to KATS British Car Service here in Denver where we
discovered that a TR4 kit is a direct replacement.

I should be back on the road just in time for British
Car Week. I have the Rotoflex suspension just about
ready to install and hope to do that next week. More
on that later. Stay tuned.
Dave
