Alternatively, smash down on the hood with your fist as hard as you can,
just above the latch, while pulling the handle. If you have short arms,
get someone else to do one or the other. That technique has helped me
get it open after forgetting to lubricate the latch. Then get some lube
on there as fast as possible.
