Hugh:
Whoa, let's try that one again! I see from my previous message to you
that I may have had some serious formatting problems. Here we go once
more...
In response to your inquiry as to whether a '65 or '67 hardtop will
work on my '70 Spitfire, it is my understanding that the hardtop
stayed the same through 1970, but the attachment method was modified
at comm. no. FD20,000 LHS and FD13,980 RHS.
I know which hardtop part number works for which cars, but I doubt if
your friend can determine the P/N of his hardtop. So, is his car
before or after comm. no. FD20,000 (left steering) or FD13,980 (right
steering)? That will help us determine total compatibility.
By the way, I haven't heard from your friend yet, but know how that
goes if he's moving right now.
(Note to triumph list members: let me know if you have additional
information on interchangeability of original Spit hardtops for 1964
through 1970 models. Also, let me know if you know of an original
metal hardtop for my '70 Spitfire.)
