Carb Confusion revisited

Now I'm really confused.  A number of people corrected me for thinking the 
SU's I have are from a sub-liter engined Spitfire. Apparently there ain't no 
such animal.

My info came from the applications list from my Haynes SU Carburetor book.  
On page 97 it Says "Spitfire Mk I & II 950cc cap 4 cyl 1962/66 AUC983F, 
AUC983R.

Is the capacity of the engine wrong, or do these carbs go on another car 
entirely?  Most of the other applications have AUD*** instead of AUC***.

Would someone with a '69 US-spec Spitfire please go read the metal tags on 
the float bowls, and drop me a line? Many thanks in advance; I'm having 
trouble sleeping with this burning question on my mind.
