Yes the Spider gears are welded to the cage. I've heard this referred to as a Detroit locker before, so that's why I used the term in my post. I believe that is the correct definition. Nope. What you have is a "welded" rear end. The Detroit locker is a complex pawl and lever arrangement that locks the rear end in situations where one wheel is getting less traction than the other, making turns a little more pleasant than a welded rear end. |
