Yeh, its one of the few words i can spell, but I'm not very good at it. It all
started when I plumbed the new stainless steel hydrolic lines into my TR3. I
just couldn't talk myself into painting the lines. And then one thing led to
another and I repolished the finned aluminum valve cover, then polished the
upper and lower thermostat housings, then it was the intake manifolds, then the
carb linkage. Now I'm thinking of chroming the header since there are no
stainless steel ones available (At least not from Moss, The Roaster Factory,
British Frame & Engine & Triumphtune). At least I haven't polished the aluminum
finned oil pan.
I think as long as I do not pop the bonnet, I can pass as a TR3A purist. I have
been very careful about the outside. Though I am still trying to decide where to
mount the oil temperature guage (At least it has the correct bezel). It may go
on the panel where the factory put it for the rally cars, or I may mount it
under the panel.
Well even though she has polished bits, the factory/dealer installed optional
oil pan & valve cover, a header, and DCOEs at least it has the correct hose
clamps, green heater valve handle (on a polished heater valve-oops), proper
generator..opps I have the narrow fan belt going around a harmonic dampener and
a polished aluminum water pump pully....Weeellll maybe I should just keep the
bonnet closed around purists
As long as you don't pop the bonnet, she agrees extreamly closely with the TRA
judging guide. I guess I can wait for the custom car/hot rod car meets to pop
the bonnet
