Very good point, but my suspicion is that originally when 5 qts. were put
in along with a new filter that the dipstick probably read full. But then
again, this might have been true for a Ford engine in a Ford car. But in a
Tiger??? If the dip stick was originally way off, what did a dealer tell
a customer when the discrepancy came up?

The real question is - what was stock?
What was the original stock Tiger engine angle?
Did a brand new Tiger read the correct oil level back in the day?
My next experiment will be how much do I need to jack up the front of my
Tiger to obtain the correct dipstick reading with 4 qts in the sump.
I just don't know when I will have time to do that experiment.

That raises the question what can cause the engine to tilt very far from
stock.....missing the thick washers on the motor mounts, worn motor
mounts, incorrect (inferior) motor mounts, using a non standard or worn or
broken tranny mount, ? Anything else? Or a non stock oil pan?

Update
With the oil pan level
10 qts - level is at the rear main seal lip of the oil pan
Tilted 2 degrees down at front of engine - fluid level to oil pick up
screen relationship
1pt - level is below the dipstick - just getting the oil pick up screen wet
1Qt - level is about 1/8" on the dipstick - covers about 2/3 of the oil
pick up screen
3pt - level is about 1/4" on the dipstick - covers about 3/4 of the screen
2Qt - level is about 1/8" below ADD line - oil pick up screen assembly is
just covered
5pt - level is about 1/16" above ADD line - oil pick up screen assembly is
covered
3Qt - level is about 1/16" above the Mid Line
This indicates that if you have a similar engine angle situation you
better start think about an oil change if the dipstick oil level read between
the ADD line and the Mid line. You are at the 2 to 3 Qts oil in the sump.
You definitely need an oil add or change if the oil level reading is near
the ADD line meaning about 2 Qts oil in the sump.
