Frank,
Thanks for running the numbers. Interesting how the torque (and therefore
HP) actually was closest at 6,500 RPM. You would think it was the other way
around, that's how the Mopar was.

Philip,
Can't say I know any other manifolds that fit. Probably no one has
considered cast manifolds since George Boskoff tried what was available back
in 1963-64. So, who knows what modern and "MAYBE" better flowing manifolds
would fit. Someday when I am actually driving my Tiger I'll be out at Pick A
part "scoping out" other cast manifolds that look promising. But don't hold
your breath. 5+ years and I've driven it about 400 feet at 15 MPH.
On my 318 manifolds I ported them to remove casting flash, surface
roughness and smooth over the sharp bends. It is hard to get deep inside. I
slide a chain through a bunch of times hoping to knock off casting flash and
smooth the surface a bit. The Mopar A Body drivers side exhaust is actually
a rather nice piece for an American car. Decent internal size and somewhat
smooth bends. The passenger side is typical center dump.
In spite of my questioning the value of headers, I'm a bit baffled how a
center dump log manifold is of any value. The two outer exhaust flows would
collide into each other if it wasn't for the two intersecting flows on
center. Basically the flows disrupt each other and how can that help???
Thanks everyone for your insightful replies.
Tom
