Greetings to all,
Yet another "minor" problem. For the second time in
200 miles I have developed a leak at the cast iron
fitting on the block. The leak is at the center
fitting. The first leak was caused by a damaged O ring
on the center fitting. I tried to be careful when I
installed the replacement but it looks like the same
failure again. Considering I only have 300 miles on
the car since I got it running - this is troublesome.
Does anybody out there have a good alternative to the
stock cast iron fitting? I'm running Sunbeam
Specialties headers and don't think the SVO filter
adapter will clear them. Also, because of the headers
a shorty filter on the block won't work either. Has
anyone else run into this problem? Ideas?
One other item. Oil pressure is around 60 psi when
cold. Once the engine heats up it drops to 20 - 40
depending on rpm. Does this sound right? The 60
seems high. Could that high pressure be causing my
leak?
As always thanks in advance.
