If you read TBON, you will discover that Rootes did not make a block
change with the new Mk IA, which the British never recognized as an
official departure. Many things were changed gradually, like the rounded
edges of doors, trunk, hood. Leaded vs unfilled seams. The British cars,
even in the 50's were no great respecters of in-series change points.
They changed as the new parts came in. Not like the US, where distinct
"model year" trim and other changes occurred.
