It is interesting to note the differences in red light laws across the
country. Here in Chicagoland, the primary rule is that no matter how far you
stretch that orange light, someone else will come through after you. It is
not safe to stop. In fact, Illinois Rules of the Road states that simply
having a green light does NOT authorize you to enter the intersection until
AFTER it is empty; makes no difference if the other guy is running a red
light, if you pull out there, you are at fault.
