They have to be concave facing outwards - after all, these things are a lot
easier to move if you are pushing on the concave face, and you want it to be
easier for you to install the core plugs than for the coolant pressure to
de-install them! All the core plugs I have seen have been concave outwards,
and in the MG BGT I once had I twice had a core plug fall out, the AA bloke
always installed new ones concave outwards.
I think there must be a typo in Haynes - write to them and let them know,
I'm sure they'd be delighted to hear from you!! ;-)
