Yep Richard, different strokes for different folks! I found the lighting of
the tach and speedo in particular, too dim for my tastes. I found that I had
to spend more time looking at the gauges in the dark than I would have
preferred to, had they been better lit to begin with. So my objection to the
standard Mk3 bulbs was the same as yours -- they served as a distraction from
the road!

Now then, does anyone have that cross reference chart anywhere?

Take care,

I guess we all have our own preferences, but I find the standard lights (on
my 1500) to be bright enough to read the gauges adequately, and I wouldn't
want them any brighter because they would distract my attention from the
road. On cars with adjustable brighness on the gauges, I guess I tend to
have them turned down quite low.

All I really want to do is scavenge the green filters off a spare speedo
and
tacho that I have, so I can fit them to my temp and fuel gauges - it always
has seemed odd that the gauges aren't all the same colour. One day, when I
  have a minute to spare...

But, as I said, we all have our own preferences.

  Richard
