Gearbox/Bell housing

I will be mating up the bell housing this weekend.  Does anyone bother
with any type of gasket cement/sealer or simply mate the two together
with the paper gasket.  Lastly, is there any trick to keeping the three
thrust springs in place whilst putting the two pieces together?
