I'd also check the valve adjustments on the rockers again just for kicks. I
lost compression on one cylinder on my MK2 after a rebuild only to find out
that I forgot to tighten the nut on one of the valve adjusters. Seems that
it "adjusted" itself, causing the exhaust (I believe) valve to always be
partially open, never letting the cylinder get to compression.
But the oily plugs tend to make me think that it quite possibly is a bad
head gasket or the head itself. Open between an oil passage and cylinder.
As Joe say, a retorque is important, especially on the "older" style head
gaskets. And yes, Fel-Pro makes head gaskets for the spits. I can go out
the garage and get the P/N if you need it
