It will be fairly obvious when you pull the head. Streaks from one
cylinder to another. Heated coolant and exhaust gasses will stain the
materials.
I wonder if Fel-Pro makes head gaskets for the Spitfire? I used to use
their gaskets exclusively for Vega's. Never needed retorquing, and had a
sealant ring around each bore to prevent seepage. A very nice
gasket. Cost quite a bit, but it was peace of mind.
