Subject: Seat reclining mechanism
On Saturday my drivers seat suddenly stopped working properly.
Not fun when you accelerate off at the lights and the seat back
reclines on you.
I assume that the teeth on the mechanism or the bit that engages
in the teeth has worn out. I still have to pull the seat and see
exactly, but does anybody know if these are replaceable parts or
is there a solution (apart from having it welded or bolted in a
fixed position)?

Alan,
Most likely, it wasn't the recline mechanism, but rather the
frame. Usually breaks just above the ratchet mechanism. Can be
fixed once or twice. Unfortunately, the metal is so thin, it
is hard to get a good weld on it. I had to replace mine a
couple of years ago. The frames are getting harder and harder
to come by.
Sorry to bear such bad news,
Doug
