Greetings, Fellow Listers,

After a 9 month period of Triumph inactivity, I am finally preparing to finish
the engine rebuild on my '74 Spit. I had the shop assemble the engine to
short block status, but forgot to have them modify the oil lines as
recommended in the competition prep manual. Now I get to do it all over
again. So here is the question for you engine builders out there. I'm
confused by the description of which lines to drill out. I'm assuming that
one is the main galley that runs lengthwise through the block. What are the
others? I haven't torn the engine down again (unheated Minnesota garage) so
I'm not able to get a visual reference. Are the oil lines something that I, a
reasonably experienced amateur gearhead, can modify? Obviously, after
drilling and deburring I'll have to have the block tanked. I bought new main
and rod bolts for the rebuild - can I reuse the torque-to-yield rod bolts,
since the engine hasn't run yet?

The book also mentions several other modification i.e.: Radiusing the holes in
the main caps, putting longer grade 8 bolts in the center main cap, counter
boring the center main cap, etc. Are these other mods needed for a street
motor? I rarely rev it past 4500, and not past 5000. FYI, the block is bored
.020 over with 9:1 pistons. Unknown carbs, a 4-2-1 header and an oil cooler
are the only other mods planned for the future.

TIA, as always!
