John
I am worried by your statement 'is then very reluctant to go above 3500rpm
and will get 'stuck' there'. UJ (drive or prop shaft ones) will not cause
this phenomena. Is the noise definitely coming from the rear end? Could it
be the diff? I can think of nothing else that would possible limit the max
speed / revs unless it is the gearbox / OD but that would be front end
noises. Is 3500rpm a max in any gear or only top gear?
The Kipping parts catalogue has a good section on noise identification
(flowcharts etc) but I don't have one to hand at the moment - maybe someone
else can help here.
Are the brakes binding - daft question but you have just had the whole front
end apart.
Sorry I can be more helpful
Pat
