Avi,
The 1500 comp prep manual suggests using stock mains
with a .0025" clearance and MG'B' rod bearings. Not
the Glaciers, but the CLEVITE "77" series. The
Clevite bearings (which are manufactured by DANA) are
clevite part number CB792P in a .010" undersize. You
need to file the outside edge of the locating tang on
the bearings to fit the connecting rods.

Then they recomend grinding the crank to 1.8665"
(about .009") to get a .002" clearance (the stock
crank on a 1500 is pretty beefy). And suggests that
with the Clevite bearings prepared in this fashion,
the bearing life will be indefinate. (I'm assuming
that's until the thrust washer(s) fall out.)

Let me know if you want a really bad photo copy of the
manual. (You should get a copy where you can make out
the illustrations).

And check with Ted Schumacher at TSI or Mike
(ohfastone) at Protius for some ideas. I was looking
at PRI racing for some of their high-tech parts, but
thought better after some education from Ted and Mike.

Ted's been working on Spitfire/Midget engines for
longer than you or I have been alive, and Mike's got
some innovative ideas and some good parts/machine
contacts (You think, if we pulled our money together
we could afford to have one of them abducted and work
on our engines here in Maryland?).
