I used Bill Hirsch Stainless Steel Engine and Exhaust Paint. It is a 1600 degree
paint that should only be used on very hot surfaces as the paint cures under
high temperatures.
It hardens to a dull gray color and looks somewhat flakey but is still holding
on after two years. It does look better than rust.
