Sorry to bring this up on the list, but I was hoping that some one might be
able to help me out. The Spitfire project is going great and is almost put
back together but still needs a brake rebuild and an interior so I can't
drive it yet. The problem that I am having is with my 85' Subaru, I am
thinking that it might be the carb. I have figured out that it only
happens when the car is hot. I will be driving down the road and when I
try to accelerate the opposite happens the car dies. I have replaced
everything dealing with the ignition, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs,
spark plug wires even the coil. This leads me to belive that it has
something to do with the carb. Today after I installed the new coil I took
it for a drive and it was working fine and then started to act up. So I
took it out of gear and revved the engine a few times and it was fine and
got me home. Any thoughts on this problem? It is really confusing me and
a rebuilt carb is around $300 the repair manual doesn't recommend a DIY
person doing the job. Any help would be greatly appreciated since the
Spitfire is no where near ready to hit the road yet. Thanks!

Phillip
