I would recommed the struts used to lift minivan rear hatches, I know they
have to be strong enough. By the way did someone have pictures on the web.
So far I have gathered that compressed length should be about a maximum of
18 inches and extended about 25. Where are we mounting them though.

Been there done that! My bonnet used two. You have to be carefully about
the length and the strength of the stuts. You can see a picture of the
set-up in the next spitfire magazine issue. Sorry I am in CHina and wont be
back this summer so now I cant give you the strut numbers.
