I couldn't say for sure on the 1296cc engine, but there is no spacer
between the SU carbs and the inlet manifold on the 1500 engine - just a
normal thin gasket.
As for the Emission Control stuff, we managed to avoid having any of
that nonsense fitted to the UK spec cars - it only goes and saps all the
power - so I couldn't really advise on that!
Just a question out of curiosity for the American listers (who for some
reason seem to make up the vast majority of correspondents) - what carbs
were fitted to US cars? All UK cars (as far as I know) used SUs, first
HS2s and later HS4s, but I have a feeling the US cars were different.
What did they have, and, more interestingly, why?
For those who were wondering, Daffy is not for Duck, or crazy (although
it might as well be), it's for Daffodil, since she is bright yellow!
