My Spitfire was "born" in March of 1979 and has all of the usual chrome
stuff except for the bumpers. But some of the emissions stuff was more like
the 1978 model.

Hi Andy,

FWIW my '79 was built in Oct '78 and had the BBRBBB's. If that is
mid-year, when did they start production of '79s?

PS, Saturday some twerp behind me ran into my rear bumper... and because it
was a BBRBBB, it survived with only a slight scratch. If it had been a
chrome bumpered car I would have been crying to you all today, I'm sure!

Finally: On my car, the only real chrome is 1) the gas cap 2) the outer
door handle pulls, and 3) the wiper bases (and washer nozzles). Maybe 4)
the oil filler cap on the valve cover.

Sincerely,
