Ummm... of course, you guys realize that in the Southern hemisphere,
winter is from June to September... So August is their equivalent of
our February.
Obviously the article is still claiming *excessive* cold, and I'm not
arguing that. Just wanted to state the obvious when I read the "In
August!" comment.
By the way, the global warming theory doesn't say that all spots on the
earth heat up the same amount, or that all spots even heat up at all.
Global warming will cause heat in some places (say, the mid-atlantic),
that causes a shift in ocean currents, and hence air currents, causing
the warm air that normally keeps say, S. Africa, warmer in August
(winter) to move somewhere else.
Saying that S. Africa is having a cold winter doesn't necessarily go
against global warming, it actually may back it up. Gore actually
mentions a similar phenomenon in the movie.
