Bob, avoid sand completely, if you need media that cuts that deep and that hard then use "black beauty", 150 lbs for $8.00 and not as harmful health wise. I only use black beauty on very rusty exhaust manifolds or rusty rims, it cuts so much it can be leave a surface that will show through powder-coat and paint, I use walnut shells for aluminum and glass media for other metals, in our hobbie I cannot see any reason for using sand.
