IMHO sand is great for suspension parts, trailers, etc.
For bodywork you have to turn the pressure down quite a lot or you may
ripple the surface. You also run the risk of having sand particles lodge in the
metal and migrating out through your paint at a later date.
For any rotating parts or blocks, transmission cases, differential
housings, I still prefer NOT to use sand. It reminds me too much of horror
stories
aboutsand in crankcases,differentials, etc.
