My advice -- if you use a winch to get the non-running car onto the
trailer, don't try to use it to lower the car off the trailer unless the
winch has power out. Slipping the clutch on a cheapy winch doesn't give
you enough control over a heavy car, like, say, a 73 BMW 3.0s to keep it
from rolling right into a workbench. (This is not a hypothetical
example.)
Your winch/comealong plan sounds like a fine plan to me, but pull slowly
and if the brakes work on the car, have an assistant ready to use them.
