Hey, my Lucas system works fine, but:
Note a drinker myself, especially beer, I sure see what you are saying Tom.
I have no DUI's on my record, not even a ticket in the last 20 years.
But I don't believe a single beer along with lunch over an hour or so is
going to put anybody in that category. But since that potential exist,
perhaps a key drop would be appropriate for those who might get past the
limit.
At our last ride we stopped at Hanna winery for some wine tasting, and I am
sure their were a few that consumed at least a full glass of wine with all
the samples. And at Sbrazia it was pretty much the same thing. And I don't
recall seeing anybody falling down the stairs.
I recognize your concern but think we are adult enough to know the
consequences of being drunk behind the wheel, and that we would all be on
guard to protect any of our friends that might over do it.
I do thank you for bringing that potential to everybody's attention.
Awareness is everything.
Sincerely,
Clif and Deborah

I know this is going to go over like Lucas electrics on a dark night,
but:
A club full of very unique British cars, drinking and driving. As the
Brits
would say, "BRILLIANT!"
   I'm being extremely sarcastic.
When I finally show up in the Grinnall S3, I'm going to call for a show
of
hands as I ask loudly, "Anyone who's had a DUI, raise your hand!" I'll tell
my
story if that's what you want to hear. But you probably don't want to hear
it.
After all, it can't happen to YOU.
The concept of a car club, going driving on club events, and consuming
alcohol in any quantity before or during the club drives, is a fool's errand
imo. It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN it causes a problem for one to
several
members, their vehicles, and possibly some innocent civilians. On a personal
note, the concept of driving my very unique British specialist car, one of
less than 360 in the world, in concert with a pack of drinking drivers, is
just something I'm not willing to do. So just count me out on any drive that
involves drinking in any quantity and then driving. You folks are really
looking for trouble. Go ahead, laugh at me now...but don't call me for bail
or
complain to me when you have to do that expensive, time consuming and
EMBARRASSING "legal cakewalk". That fifteen grand or so you'll be out will
pay for a lot of Brit car parts. Been there ONCE...8/11/84, and NEVER
going
there again. Tom Reier
p.s. I know, it can't happen to YOU. You're special. Tell it to the LEO as
you're doing that test.
