I know this is going to go over like Lucas electrics on a dark night, but:
A club full of very unique British cars, drinking and driving. As the Brits
would say, "BRILLIANT!"
I'm being extremely sarcastic.
When I finally show up in the Grinnall S3, I'm going to call for a show of
hands as I ask loudly, "Anyone who's had a DUI, raise your hand!" I'll tell my
story if that's what you want to hear. But you probably don't want to hear it.
After all, it can't happen to YOU.
The concept of a car club, going driving on club events, and consuming
alcohol in any quantity before or during the club drives, is a fool's errand
imo. It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN it causes a problem for one to several
members, their vehicles, and possibly some innocent civilians. On a personal
note, the concept of driving my very unique British specialist car, one of
less than 360 in the world, in concert with a pack of drinking drivers, is
just something I'm not willing to do. So just count me out on any drive that
involves drinking in any quantity and then driving. You folks are really
looking for trouble. Go ahead, laugh at me now...but don't call me for bail or
complain to me when you have to do that expensive, time consuming and
EMBARRASSING "legal cakewalk". That fifteen grand or so you'll be out will
pay for a lot of Brit car parts. Been there ONCE...8/11/84, and NEVER going
