NOS *would* be the way to go, but the chances of finding any are very slim.
I have been able to get correct OE items in the past but even what are
claimed to be OE from reputable suppliers are coming up way too hard these
days, according to people here and on BBSs. I just wonder how a supplier,
who has to buy them from a manufacturer, really knows just what specs have
been used. Not too long ago someone here from a reputable supplier said
they installed some telescopic shocks, found them way too hard, and sourced
some new ones. Since people have been complaining of this for years, which
is one of the reasons why telescopics are a waste of time and money, it is a
pity they didn't do a trial install much earlier. Unless your parts
supplier *does* install the items they sell they are never going to find
out, for themselves, whether they are any good or not, which is one of the
reasons I usually get my stuff from a one-man band who also does
maintenance, repairs and restorations.

Enough ranting. Merry Christmas.
