You have nothing to lose by running an 8 x 1mm tap through the sump fixing holes even though the block is cast iron. This is what I have just done on my TF and everthing has torqued up fine. It may be that just the first few threads are damaged, or even the bolts slighty damaged. Should it not work then by all means Helicoil. However I would not recommend the former on safety critical components. Good Luck David Tinker |
