If I were the one who had the responsibility of certifying records, I'd certainly bring a few basic tools to the meet. My basic concern would be to check the calibration of the clocks and the distance measurements-- not that I'd expect cheating, but mistakes can, and do, happen. While on the subject of rubber calibration tools-- does anyone remember the ol' days in drag racing when some dishonest strip owners and promoters fudged the ET & top speed of some cars so that it would draw bigger crowds to see the "fastest" racing? Not that I'd expect that to happen in LSR but it pays to check once in a while.
